During the reign of Sultan Mahmood, the Qaznavid King, Minister Hassanak was much respected by the Sultan because he was upright, trustworthy and pious. He consulted with Hassanak about every affairs of state, but his intimate relation with the Sultan angered his courtiers among which Abusahl Zoozani was the most envious. Hassanak traveled to Mecca for pilgrimage and returned to Iran after visiting Egypt. When he was back Sultan Mahmood was dead and Masood, his son, had replaced him. Abusahl, informed the caliph in Baghdad that Hassanak was a friend of the Fatimid Dynasty who was the caliph's enemy. The caliph believed the lie and ordered poor Hassanak to be killed. After much torture Abusahl hanged Hassanak against the wishes of all the citizens of Herat and Neishabur who loved innocent Hassanak and cursed Abusahl.
