The Loose Brick
A young man was scolded and thrashed roughly by his father in front
of his friends in the district. He did not show any reaction but went
to his room to talk to himself. Father came to see him, kissed his cheek
on the same spot that he had reddened by his slap and ached sourly. He
thanked him for behaving just like a real gentleman and explained that
when he was a lad like him, he could not bear not to answer his father's
slap. They hugged and kissed each other.
