A Girl is Born
The
father of the family is devastated that the third girl is born and taunts
and belittles her mother in various way. This makes the mother feel
guilty and miserable. The grandfather of the family is also furious
that his granchildren are not boys and is afraid that his family lineage,
is on the verge of extinction. This is because according to the tradition,
the family name carries forward only through males.The baby and her
sisters go through many degrading experiences as victims of a male dominated
pattern of thinking. She finally manges to make the family accept her
as a girl who is after all the daughter of the family.
