Smiling Flower

A wicked woman had a lazy and bad daughter called Deary. Cheerful was working as their maidservant. She had no relatives. Deary and her mother bothered her a lot. They gave only a loaf of bread to her for all her labour in the house. One day an old woman begged Cheerful for food. She gave her half of her bread. The old woman prayed for Cheerful. Since then flowers dropped from her mouth when she laughed and pearls dropped from her eyes when she wept. The governor's son who had heard about Cheerful courted her but her stepmother sent Deary to his palace instead. When the governor's son discovered the fraud he threw Deary out of his palace and married Cheerful.
